An Operation Theater (OT) Assistant is a healthcare professional who assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses in the operating room. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that the operating room is set up with the necessary equipment and supplies before surgery. They also assist in positioning the patient on the operating table, preparing surgical instruments, and helping to dress and drape the patient.

During the surgery, the OT Assistant may assist the surgeon by handing over surgical instruments, sponges, and other necessary items. They may also monitor the patient’s vital signs and assist the anesthesiologist with administering medications and maintaining the patient’s airway.

 

The Operation Theater (OT) Assistant course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in surgical procedures and ensure the safe and efficient functioning of the operating room.
